Battle of the Bands:

Something a little different this month! 

I usually don't follow Taylor Swift's stuff, though I occasionally hear a catchy pop tune attributed to her and get it stuck in my head ("Safe and Sound" is a good example of that...Ahhhh! Now it's stuck in my head again! Drats!). 

This foray started with a friend sending me a cover of the song, "ME!" (linked here) by TS. I'm not saying which one blew me away, but it did make me want to include it in a soft and lovely battle, like NOW!

"ME!" is an interesting title. Self-absorbed, maybe? Or perhaps just putting it out there for the universe to make sure it's clearly understood what "me" is about? An excuse to pull another musician into your video once more? Who knows? Who cares, really.

A shout out to Ed O'Neill, Youngstown's finest. We've made him a local legend and this fine meme just adds to his glory, in spite of the fact he had nothing to do with it's creation. 

I thought I'd heard everything, then I saw the banning of singing in church. Wow. Didn't see that one coming. And I'm pretty sure it is inspiring more people to sing in church. 

  

Then Kanye West said he was running for President under his Birthday Party. And friends, Kanye might NOT be the worst choice. 

ip加速器破解If you could fix one problem in the world, just one - what would it be?  There were no duds in the answers, all of them had merit, but I do like Birgit's request to rid the world of stupidity. When you think about it, that would cover so much! Regardless of your specific spirituality or beliefs, if there is a God (there is, spoiler...not that I'm opinionated), then He has this in his sights. It still would help to decrease stupidity. 

If you don't believe in God, well stupidity just makes it harder, eh?

So, what about them there battles, Cherdo? Well, the only way to answer that question is with a highly technical process. Step back and don't touch anything while I pull this one off...literally.

July is here! Maybe you think I said that like I wasn't sure July would get here. Well...you're paying attention, 'cause up is down, high is low, and it's hard to call the shots this year. How can I explain it...

Truth be told, I was actually looking forward to the long-awaited murder hornets of urban legend. And what did I get? Nada. Next thing you know, people are saying there's no such thing as the Jersey Devil, Big Foot, Hook Man, Loch Ness monsters... Dang, you can't trust urban legends?

Maybe I'll watch the news to get some real truth. Media is your friend, nurturing trust at every turn.

Or maybe not. Lately, I'm lumping murder hornets, urban legend, and network news together as equally accurate. Seriously, you'd think a little bit of logical thought would weed out the flakiest of controversy from the logical, rational thought processes and observations of your run-of-the-mill SANE human. It seems to take the slightest bit of plausibility on the end of the hook to get somebody to bite. And then, having swallowed that bite whole, they move on to actually regurgitating and discussing. Oh, Lord, save me from online debates.

Think about it: even the face of death is rooted in frustration because there's nothing you can do and no way to turn back the clock. Tears over some guy you dated? The frustration that it couldn't be a different outcome or frustration with yourself for choosing him in the first place. Kids' antics or problems? So frustrating that your parent-driven life lessons didn't prevent them from "steppin' in it." Frustration over burnt supper...why didn't I follow the recipe? Then there is a judgemental sort of frustration I fall into sometimes when I see a person struggling and I think, "Why are you crying about THAT? It's not even what I'd call a problem!" I'm getting frustrated when my own iron-clad opinions get in the way of true empathy.

      

My only solution is to shake it off and move forward (it might take time), mindful of the fact that sometimes life stinks beyond reason, but there's always something good out there. It's up ahead, around the corner, might be small or huge. But just as sure as you'll be frustrated from time to time, you'll also be able to see that God tucks some good in the most unlikely of places. Like birds in a flower basket or my pups joy at finding a favorite toy that was lost. Flowers "showing off" in the yard. Freshly baked bread. Beautiful cloud formations. 

I love ONE of these tunes so much and the covers were disappointing OR absent, so I thought we'd just team up a variety of songs called "Cry Baby."
